Is SP 1a installed, WIN XP-pro

My OEM package says SP 1a is included, how can I tell if it was in the install or still lurking on the CD. I searched the CD for the M$ download file name and didn't find that so probably buried in a cab file??
The version my computer says I have is:
Windows Ver5.1(Build 2600.xpsp2.030422.1633:Service Pack
1)
Definetly says SP 1 but not 1a.

 

The service pack could be slipstreamed into the install. You would not find a SP1 file if that is the case.
You will need to run MS update to check for security risks anyway. When you run update, check what it wants to install.

 

I have run the auto update and have all of the security and critical updates and some of the not so critical updates. I think the answer is I really can't tell by what the computer tells me??? Besides M$ indicated that the SP1a is so big that it would not be identified for installation in auto update.

 

right click on my-computer.. on the general tab it will tell you your OS and service pack level.

 

Did that and still leads me to believe that 1a is not installed because all it says is Win XPP 2992 SP ! and gives my CD Key #. Only reason I am trying to find out is to decide whether I need to download via a local friend that has satellite link or buy the M$ CD for $10.

1a was a revision for Java JVM that was ruled by the courts to be removed from windows. If you have sp1 installed then don't worry about 1a
