Is there a Glary Utilities for Linux available?

My son-in-law works for Linux, and installed it on my 79 year old mother's computer. Neither she nor I know how to use it properly, and hate it. She keeps asking me to fix it, and I don't know how. Her Canon Pixma MC700 printer still copies pages put in it, but nothing from the computer. He won't go to her home and help her, as it often takes hours of his time. I run Glary Utilities on Windows, and love it. Is there an install for Linux to do Registry Repair and the rest of the free downloads? I am hoping maybe that will help her. She used to love her computer, but now can't use it much. All the debs, cups, etc. is a pain in the a** to two older women like us. Help, please.

    Greetings, fordellcastle.

Be advised: this thread may be moved to the Linux Forum by the MG moderators.

What flavor of Linux is on your mother's machine?

I don't know which version of Linux it is. I will check when I am out there next time. I know it has Kubuntu on it, which is where she has to go to get to choose which internet site she wants to use. It also has something called Mule on it. I absolutely hate it. We are both pretty fluent in Windows, if you can call it that. She can't download pdf files, which her china painting club sends her, or her recipe clubs. She can't use Jigzone anymore, either. She is depressed over it. She can't print her painting photos of lessons, either. I hope Glary can fix it. I know I can't, so hope I can find answers here.

Yes, sorry, it is an MX700. The computer no longer communicates with the printer. My error.

There is a Linux driver for your printer in Australia.

This page may be a bit much, but at the bottom left in Red is Download Link.

Your Kubuntu system should be able to open the file

This thread from the Mint forums may be a bit much, but has step by step how to install.

We can work on PDF after the printer is setup. ;)

Thank you for the links provided. I will download them and let you know whether they fix the problems.

Neither worked, unfortunately. I found out it is Ubuntu 9.10, if that makes any difference. I did not see an actual link for the Glary Utilities. The Australia red download button for the Canon printer opened up a binary file, which was not readable on her computer. It warned me it continuing would corrupt the file. Surely there is a way to fix it for her? Thank you for your suggestions, regardless...

You did not indicate where you are located. In many areas, there are Linux User Groups where someone would be able to fix the issue. The alternative repair is to demand your son-in-law correct the install where it works. The last resort is to reinstall Windows and for that you will need the system disk.
