Is there a way to block Google porn?

i'm just awakening to the fact that I know of no way to effectively block unwanted porn via Google Image and Video searches. They put a lame "SafeSearch" filter online, but it is, as far as I know, promiscuous in terms of access: any 5 year old can find the filter settings and set them wide open. I see no way of locking the safesearch function. Also I'm not sure without a lot of time spent, that the safesearch is effective.

The common 'cybersitter'-type filters are geared toward keyed-in website addresses, which are becoming increasingly obsolete in this era. They have no tools for getting inside of a search action such as google and nixes what it may turn up.

    Any suggestions?

and, by the way, is Microsoft aware that the Content Filtering function in IE7 is completely broken? you set it any way you like, but it has no effect on anything so far as I have determined. its "business as usual"..... i haven't found anything it will block, no matter how extreme.

I can tell this is not a popular topic! :D

I sent Goog support a loveletter and will pass on what they said, as incredible as the first part sounds.... They say they have a policy to disallow any porno content on Goog video! i'm thinking 'you are out to lunch folks'... i had just finished reviewing a half dozen stripper & nudie vids that my youngster had found in the span of about 5 minutes, without using very good search terms. it could be a fulltime occupation just reporting the links back to them.

anyway, the more hopeful part of their response is that they are not done with safesearch yet and will release an updated version for filtering of videos specifically.

i bet their innovation has set back the netnannies of the world....

Put the computer in a common area, where you can monitor what is being viewed.

Even if you try to block out porn searches on Google, theres still MSN search, Yahoo, etc. You can try and install a filter yourself that will block out any key words your youngster can use, such as "porno'' or "stripper''. Any searches related to that will be blocked out. Its like the schools filter. If you want that, I can help direct you to some sites.
