at least change it? I have some CDs that will not allow me to view in MediaPlayer unless I load a codec. Issue is that when I copy the clips, I would have to send off the codec to opposing counsel. Also, I need to strip out the codec so that I can edit the clips. You guys helped me ALOT with the DVD version of these clips. I only hope you can help me out on the CDs. Thanks.

Personally, I can't be bothered with codecs!

I use VLC Media Player which has just about every codec you could ever need built in. It's free, it's lightweight, and it's played every video file i've ever come across. Even disc images, .ISO, .NRG, .IMG, you name it.

    FWIW.................

Problem is I put the video clip in VLC Media Player. It opened the task bar so to speak and then nada. Did not show the video. I then downloaded afreeCodecVT2 and got nothing. It says that it is not an avi file yet that is in fact the extension!! HELP!!

Oh wow... has this clip EVER worked? Sounds corrupted to me.

We could try Gspot (aka the codec information appliance) to tell us exactly what we need.

However, these programs should work with .AVIs out of the box, so I suspect something deeper is going on here.

I loaded G-Spot and GOM Player and neither can find the codec. I used t@b and AnyVideoConverter, VirtualDub, MediaCoder, afreeCodecVT2 AND NOTHING WORKS. Even RealPlayer, MediaPlayer, VLC MediaPlayer will not work. Any more ideas? Thanks.

The clips work in Media Player 9 WITH a codec that was given to me. But I cannot edit the clips (timewise). I can also view on HP Viewer 4 but again, that does not help me with editing jsut the parts that my boss wants. I tried CamRecorder that captures screen activity. But when I try and reopen the file, it adds a "[1] after the extension (.IVR) so then I can not reopen the file.

The viewers say cannot render files.

Well, thanks to your help, I finally got what I wanted: a pliable video clip that I can manipulate!! I used GOMPlayer to watch the codec'd CDs that were unwatchable. Then, I used CamStudio to basically video the screen so it captured the video. Then, I used MovieMaker to edit, etc. That probably means I can use Super or ZS4 to edit it but I will check after a bit. Thanks again to everyone who offered me some ideas to get around this mess.
