It all depends on the program...

What is the exact name and version of the program you wan to run? Also are you running the latest version of the program (I mean to say, are there perhaps previous versions available) and/or have you contacted the developer to ask this question? Most of these program authors would be happy to assist if you especially if you send a politely-worded support e-mail request to them. ;)

The program im trying to install is TVU Player. The program only supports Windows XP & 2000, and has no other previous versions..

The TVU service is currently in beta test. Major upgrades to the service will be available in mid-2006.

Latest Version: 1.5.12 Beta Released Date: Feb. 2006

It's pretty easy to run an older program on XP, but to do the reverse on an older OS is not really a good idea.
The program probably won't work right on your OS and so to install it would just mean an inevitable uninstall.
    IMHO

Toni's info (as usual) is quite correct. Here's the link regarding TVU Player Download/Program Info, etc.

Anyway, you might try emailing the developer's support (to see if there's a possible "work-around") Here's the TVU Email address: info@tvunetworks.com. Like I mentioned earlier; many of these program authors/ developers would be more than happy to assist if you especially if you send a politely-worded support e-mail request to them.

Unfortunately, many developers do not make their newer program versions compatible to older MS software (because of various security issues) because the cheapskates at Microsoft have ended security updates and support for 95/98/ME/SE.

    Good Luck!

    Bottom Line:
No matter what the Name of the program....if you don't meet the system requirements it probably will not work right.
Search for the same type of program, but one that you DO meet the system requirements for. :)

I found this Freeware and it works on all Windows platforms. You'll have to find details about channels, etc.

    http://tvexe.com/

Click on the 'User's Guide' tab at the top of the page to read more about System Requirements, etc.
Word to the Wise...Read the ENTIRE EULA just to be sure there's no 'funny stuff' involved. Scan the file with your antivirus program BEFORE you install.
    Good Luck!
