I'm buying my hubby a new laptop and I'm stuck between a MSI that has 3 gb and 250 gb hardrive or a toshiba that has 2 gb and 250 gb hardrive...is there much difference between the 2 gb and 3 gb? His laptop right now is old and slow so I'm sure either would be faster but not sure of the difference...other than $10 more for the lesser of the 2...so $10 more for only 2 gb...

Have to say the toshiba is fabulous value for money. The second link does not show the hardware!
What are the current specs of the hubby's laptop.
    Cheers.

    Greetings, DoeZ...

If you'll do a search through these forums for Toshiba laptops, you'll probably find that they are (for the most part) highly recommended...MSI is fairly new on the laptop scene, however, although the company has been making graphics cards for quite a while...

IMO, as far as the memory difference, 3 is always better than 2 - but considering the Toshiba history, I'd have to stick with them for an everyday home/small business machine...

Depends on the computing habits of your husband, really.

If he is a huge multitasker, or lazy (like me) and never closes any application he opens, the 3gb will make a world of difference. Point in case, this stuff has been up for two days on my laptop now. I never close anything and use it all.

This would bring 2gb to its knees and likely to cause performance issues. I also have about 7 tabs open in my browser. Mind you this is 4gb of ram, I am just showing that more ram can make a difference in what/how you do it. If I had to open and close everything I do I would rip my hair out.
