Is There Software That Will Monitor A Website To See When Online Sales Are Up?

I live in PA and our liquor is controlled by the state. The 'state' stores closed down as not essential on March 17. We can get beer and wine at grocery stores, but not spirits. They decided a couple of days ago to open sales up online for delivery however because of 'overwhelming' demand they are now opening it up at random times.

So, this is what you get when you go on the site ( https://www.finewineandgoodspirits.com/ ):

    My question:

Does anyone know if there is such thing as a website monitor that alerts you when a site opens back up.

    Which browser are you using?

I don't think the website is actually down so I don't know if up/down monitor will work and i have no experience with them. A quick search for free HTTP monitor wasn't very helpful for something that will alert you.

I did find this though, Android app. Web Alert (Website Monitor) It sounds like it will alert you to any UI changes so seems like it would tell you when the store goes live.

    Firefox. Thanks Eldon.
Its not down as far as I know. I would imagine they are taking it offline possibly, so people can't access it? It looks like Web Alert is for android? I use an iPhone.

I found two add-ons that will auto refresh a webpage. But it means you have to look at the computer every x minutes.
Can you post or message a link to the site?

    Thanks I'll take a look.
Yeah, I want something that emails me or something so that I don't have to keep checking back.

    It's https://www.finewineandgoodspirits.com/

I'll check it out. Thanks. Right now its cocktail time. :D

I don't know what's up with Check4Change. All I get is a pop up telling me how it works but no other options in Custom settings... like email notifications or anything. I can't even figure out how to add a page for monitoring.

Update Scanner for Firefox does work but you have to have the browser open to see the notification.

https://visualping.io is free and will send an email. Free page scans start at every 1 hour. Anything under that is not free.
    Change the Advanced options.
    Next to Compare: select Text.
    Alert when: Any change.

So it looks like Check4Change requires an open tab, which I don't want.

Visualping.io : I tried to view the demo of that and it looks pretty complicated. I couldn't figure it out as far as the element.

This one seems promising...or at least simple: http://www.changealarm.com/ and I think I'll try Update Scanner as well since at least it's just the browser you have to have open.

Just curious but why not just use another store? There are various online alcohol vendors.

All alcohol in PA is run and sold by the state. The only thing that never has been is beer. They've just allowed, in the last 3-5 years or so, grocery stores to sell wine and beer. The other thing they started to allow just in that time period is direct buying from a vineyard out of the state. Before that, no alcohol could be shipped into PA. That's for wine and beer.

For liquor we are still required to buy it directly through our state stores (Wine and Spirits) and they closed all stores a month or so ago. There is no alternative. If you want a bottle of vodka, etc, you have to buy it through them. Nothing shipped in and no where else to get it. We are close to Delaware, so can drive there, but that's illegal (to bring it back to PA, not to buy it)...which doesn't stop people since it's tax free, but right now it's a bit crazy going over there and I'm not that desperate for anything.

Oh, and no vendors will ship to PA

Anyway, that's the long explanation for why I can't get it anywhere else. lol

I see and believe me I get it. In Oklahoma just this year we are finally allowed to buy wine in grocery stores. Hard alcohol is still limited to a liquor and wine store. 3.2 percent beer has always been available everywhere. I'm pretty sure we can buy anything online but it's so easy to get already online sales are not in big demand.

We'd settle for competition of some sort here. To get good small vineyard wine, we have to go to Delaware a lot of times. We do get price breaks on some stuff because of the buying power of one organization buying that much stuff, but a lot of times it's cheaper else where.

lmao...I feel like that all might make you go blind!

If it wasn't for Costco coming to OK nothing would have changed. Trader Joe's was already pushing to sell their cheap wine in-store but the power of the Costco money lobbying finally pushed the lawmakers over the line.

Well, thanks for you help guys. Still nothing on the PA website other than the sorry we can't help you screen. I ended up ordering from some online place that seems to deliver to PA. Apparently Delaware doesn't want us. Their state police are stopping anyone with out of state licenses and turning them around if they don't have a legit excuse for being there...buying liquor is not one of the ones they take. lol

Because bars have few customers, perhaps a bar in your area would be willing to sell you a bottle or two of liquor. I know it isn't ordinarily done but these are not ordinary times. The state website can't handle the crush of people. Eventually they will figure out how to do this but by that time, the state stores just might be open again.

Yep...we have a friend who is friends with someone who owns a catering business. He called him to get a bottle of Tito's Vodka and the guy gave or sold it to him. I'd rather just order it. I don't really drink anything buy wine, but we are out of a couple of things and I do like to have something different once in a while.

Yeah as far as I can tell, it hasn't allowed any access.
lol...I hate gin...bad experience back in college.
Wine is easy to get online and available in our grocery stores.

I ordered some vodka, whiskey and tequila from an out of state website. It hasn't shipped yet. We'll see.
