I was wondering if there is software out there that can make my pc run faster? Is there a way so that my computer would run at the speed as when i bought it?

A few things I've found to make a noticeable difference:

1 - Defragging your hard drive. Preferably use a program that can defrag your page file (or swap file) as well. If it can't, there's a few ways around it. If you have a second hard drive, move your page file location to that drive, then defrag the original drive. It's actually recommended to keep the page file on the separate drive (different physical drive, not a different partition on the same drive). If you don't have a second hard drive, hopefully you have at least 512MB of RAM. If so, disable your page file altogether, running your computer purely on RAM. Defrag the drive with no page file, then you can re-create the page file afterwards. I should mention, defragging in safe mode is both faster, and less likely to give problems.

I should mention I run two of my computers purely on RAM all the time...one is a P-III 700MHz w/512MB of RAM, the other is an Athalon XP 2200+ w/1GB of RAM. I've seen some articles which advise against it for various reasons (running media intense programs, etc), but I've always found them to run significantly faster than using a page file.

2 - A good registry cleaner program such as Registry Mechanic 5.0...I noticed a real improvement after fixing things up with that program.

3 - Use a program such as "autoruns" to shut down all unneccessary programs at start-up...or use msconfig if you're comfortable with that. A newly formatted XP computer will have 25 or less processes running after start-up. I've seen computers with all 50-75 processes running...wayyy to much crap installed.

Doing all the above should help things out.

Please follow these instructions to tweak your system for performance, and lower resource consumption. You can skip the malware section if you've already done that.

This covers every software tweak I can think of. If you follow these and still aren't satisifed, then either consider a hardware upgrade, or follow the directions in the Overclocking Guide.

Are or have yu overclocked your rig? NvCplDaemon is part of an Nvidia driver which you disable if you overclock.

(@Mada ...sorry, ran over you ...hope it didn't hurt)
