got an eee pc for christmas and the keyboard has gone totally mad by either not working at all or randomly working by itself. the screen size also reverts to one that is not compatible with the eee pc. i took it back to pc world where it was bought from and they told me to do a system recovery but i cant get the boot up screen to work - i have read the instructions by pressing esc when switching on but it does nothing at all. it has me 20 mins to type this because when i type a letter A it places it on the line above....I think i have a real lemon ...HELP

I would return it, it's only a few weeks old. Ask for a replacement

Can you understand this sentence? I am writing it expecting a mistake but it is working correctly at the moment........Drat, it's working correctly now....Typical!
I will try to reboot it to do a system recovery since the keyboard is behaving......at the moment.

You can always recover by attaching an external dvd drive and putting the recovery dvd in if F2, followed by esc and then F9 does not bring up the proper menu to restore.
If you don't own an external DVD drive, it is time to start calling friends relatives and even enemies to see if you can take your eeepc to their house and "borrow" the external drive for 5 minutes to restore your eeepc to factory condition.

I had trouble getting my F9 to work. I suspect I wasn't hitting at the precise moment so when I needed to restore, I hit F2 which took me into the BIOS and also gave me needed time. I then hit esc which took me out of the BIOS without changing anything. I was able to hit F9 at the proper time and in 5 minutes or less, my computer was back to factory condition.
