    Here are the specs ;

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Processor ; Intel® Core™2 Duo E4400 (2 X 2.00GHz) 800MHz FSB/2MB L2 Cache

    Ram ; 2048 MB CORSAIR DDR2 667MHz

    Motherboard ; ASUS® P5K SE: DDR2, SATAII, PCI-e x16, 2 PCI, 3 x PCI-e x1

Harddrive ; 160GB SERIAL ATA II HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE

    Graphics card ; 512MB GEFORCE 8600GTS PCI Express + DVI + TV-OUT

    Monitor ; WIDE 19 INCH TFT Silver/Black 1440 x 900

    Including mouse and peripherals.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    645 pounds sterling!

    Is it worth it?
Is it worth getting a widescreen rather than a normal 19" screen?
Is there anything on there that should be directly improved? or that is out of date?

Is the graphics card too good for the processor/etc for example.

For many users, it would be a fine system. But, you've said nothing about what you want to do with your computer. So, how can you expect answers without that key information?

yeah, we need to know what you're going to do with it. im assuming from the specs you are going to be gaming with it? It is a very nice system either way. However, maybe switch the video card to a 320mb 8800GTS if its not too much? the video card will be the first thing that will need replacing in the future.

I assumed the processor was greatly outweighed in performance by the graphics card. But if its the graphics card that needs vamping , I'll do that first.

    Thanks.

And yes , I will be using it for gaming , and doing my work as a webdesigner.

Will this setup play most of todays games?

It should handle most games, but future games may require more video power as stated above. Also, the hard drive seems a bit small at 160gb; IMO 250gb is a good starting size. It's really amazing how fast hard drives can fill up. I had a 160gb and needed to upgrade to a 250gb because I kept running out of space and was constantly needing to delete stuff that I really wanted save; I also ended up spending a fortune on blank CD's and DVD's for back ups. In the long run, I've saved money by getting the bigger hard drive...

core 2 duos will be fine for games for a while. and unless you're getting it from Dell or HP or some big company, the BIOS shouldnt be locked so you can overclock the processor. VERY easy to do with the e4400, should hit 3.0ghz no problem with very little tweaking
