I've had Road Runner high speed Internet here for over five years. Ive always been pretty happy with it. My average connection speed (I ran the connection test three times and then dived by three to get an average) gives me about 4.8Mbps.

I do a lot of downloading and I decided to upgrade to the Premium level service of Road Runner. They promise 8Mbps. After the update I've been doing the speed test (same as before by getting an average) and I now am currently getting 7.6Mbps.

It's not quite as promised (although I'm fairly happy with that) and I was wondering if that was a normal thing to loose a little bit of your connection speed (kind of like how hard drives don't end up exactly the number of gigs in your system as advertised on the box).

I wanted to make sure this was normal before I make another service call.

This is normal, but if you log onto PCPitstop and Broadband Reports (along with other sites), you can run some more speed tests. Everything tends to slow down when traffic is heavy on the I'net, and traffic is ALWAYS heavy on the 'net (and the software / the drivers / Windows is always broken).
