Is This Normal For Chrome?

I've just switched from Firefox to Chrome. My system is very slow, but I don't know what is causing it. One clue seems to be shown in Task Manager.

In the processes tab, there are multiple listings of Chrome.exe *32. Surely I need only one? But I have a dozen, sometimes more, all active and using thousands of KBs.

Is this an attribute of Chrome? If so, can I get rid of it? Or is it malware?

    Thanks!

I had a similar problem with Firefox, and was told of a method to stop it. I don't know how to configure Chrome the same way.
I only use one window, with rare exceptions. Instead, I use tabs.
Right now, I have only one tab open, but Task Manager still shows a dozen instances of one process. This can't be so normal that it can't be configured to stop doing it. It slows anyone's system down.
As for malware, I know I have some, but I don't think this problem is malware, in light of my experience with Firefox.
I once used CCleaner, and it erased every one of my videos. No way will I use it again.
Can you help me reconfigure Chrome? I don't find anything.

There's nothing that I can do without you following the READ & RUN ME First Guide and attaching the logs for analysis.

Reconfigure Chrome... to what? Below is a link to reset Chrome to default settings -
