tunebite? I don't see alot on the net about Tunebite from acceptable sources like download.com, etc. Everything looks to be linked back to buying the software program. I'm a little hesistant about spending 40 bucks for something that will be obselete after the next itunes version is released. I did not notice any real feedback on the company or software. Any feedback is welcome. I want to convert my protected Mpeg4 video files from Itunes so that I can store back ups.

I haven't heard of Tunebite, and you kind of peaked my curiousity here, so I did some poking around. I found lots of links to Tunebite on 'questionable' download sites like download3000, sharewarenet, and lots of others. I did find this at Tucows, which is a fairly respectable outfit:
I think that sums it up....

    I almost forgot....

I may be wrong, but I think this will only convert music files, not video files which the OP wanted.

Re: Purchase at your own Risk

Unless I get some feedback from actual users, I will remain hesitant about purchasing the software. The worst thing that can happen is that you loose $40 more or less, however, I would only purchase the product through Pay Pal as not to give an unknown, foreign, company free reigns with my credit card. Thanks for the information and I will continue to update as information becomes available. Thanks Again! God Bless America!

I use Tunebite for converting iTunes downloads (music only. My MP3 player is Sony but iTunes is a useful source of music) and I've never had any problem with it. I have updated iTunes a couple of times which has made no difference to Tunebite. I should stress I've only used it for music though.

Having said that I downloaded it a couple of years ago when there were no other options (that I could find) and Tunebite only converted music files. I'm sure I've seen people on here discussing freeware programs that do similar but I'm not sure if they were audio files only.

If you can run a short clip on the pre-registery version then you may be able to test for jumpy video etc.

I downloaded the trial version in order to test it with a music video I purchased from Itunes. The program would not process the video in the trial version and prompted me to purchase the software in order to process the video file. Has anyone sucessfully converted the protected version of a video file (MP4), or could someone, that has the program test it on a protected MP4 video file for results.

    Hello,

I use Tunebite for a while now, about 8 Months and I've never had trouble with it. A friend recommended it and I was not that sure at the moment but risked the few bucks.
It is works ok on my PC (I have Winsows XP) and I am happy that I made that purchase. So... as far as I am concerned, I can recommend it.

Also, I totally agree with you, emartinx, on download.com: it's a reliable source and a good site but they dumped all the DRM conversion stuff...so, I don't think that this would be an argument against progs like Tunebite:)

I use the prog called TuneCab, it converts audio and video files and I'm completely satisfied. It works with iTunes too.

    Re: Tunebite versus Tunecab

I checked out the website and this program has a feature that will let you grab youtube video from explorer. Cool! Looks like this might be the most bang for the buck. Thanks so much for sharing the information.

    Hi,

I had the curiosity to try the tool you are talking about Kandy and it was the worst experience ever:
it freezed my PC when installing
i had trouble in importing the files to convert
    crashed several times
gave all the money for nothing...:(

Also, note Download.com's malware policy is if something is infected, they remove it when they find out about it. Be careful there, your assuming their trustworthy. Since the wheels turn slowly there, it can take weeks for them to remove an infected file.

Last siteadvisor check showed over 7,000 infected files. I talked to them about this, they claim it was green because of the ratio of good to bad files. Either way, two of the websites out there people consider trusted rarely test their files, contrary to promises and "certified" bs.

Majorgeeks was Tweakfiles in 98 and we tested files way back then, before any of these losers even considered it. They only claim to do so now because they have to. Large file sites need people to download every day, to do so requires they post anything they can.

Personally I use a DRM stripper for songs I buy on Itunes. For me, since I replace my pc yearly, this silly DRM means I would have to replace my entire music collection every 5 years. I dont think so.

    Hello,

Well see, the thing is I asked for support but they gave me no solution, my PC works just fine...
Never mind, I took my mind off it, the money is lost and I also have another tool now, but I just wanted to share my experience...

    Hy,
Just wanted to say that Tunebite is a good converter, I use it for a while (like 7 months) and never had problems with it. And it is easy to use which is good for a person who doesn't know much about computers (like me) :p
