Is windows defender worth bothering with if my computer is already running these...

I'm managing a network of computers, and it's going to be a pain in the arse for me to deal with uninstalling windows defender beta from all of them (the uninstaller for beta is being buggy, it's a pain just to get it uninstalled), in order to update to the more recent windows defender release.

Is windows defender worth bothering with if I'm already running the three programs mentioned below?

AVG Free
Ad-Aware SE Personal
Spybot S&D

i would stick with it. it has caught a few thing on my pc that ad-aware and spybot s&d missed.

The current thinking here at MajorGeeks is that Windows Defender is nearly useless, and is no longer recommended. I still have it, however, as it offers real-time protection those other's don't have, weak though it may be.

Defender remains a useful program but I believe you can spare it, since you have Spybot and AdAware. Considering the concerns you mentioned, Defender probably won't be doing much for your network. I removed Defender from my pc as well.

Does anyone know how to remove the beta version if you don't have the windowsdefender.msi file from the beta release, which apparently is required for the uninstallation to succeed... see my post here

Nevermind, I got it to uninstall. See the thread mentioned above for solution.
