Came in this AM and coworker's computer had not shutdown yesterday because ccApp had stopped responding. Clicked End Now and computer would still not shutdown. Did a hard shutdown with power button.
Coworker came in this AM later and booted up with only this error on a blue screen (not a standard BSOD) -

STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum} The image lz32.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum.

Tried booting into Safe Mode and the same result.

Checked this KB article out - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314474

Tried a repair install of XP Pro and got to the listing of partitions.
Recognizes one small FAT partition (31MB) and the remainder in a NTFS partition.
Does not give me an option to repair installation, only install.
Should I slave this drive, get the files off and do a fresh install of XP?
    Any options?

    Sounds like an OEM system?
IIRC, some OEM vendors will try to stop you from doing repair installs. (You're likely installed from image rather than disc)

Alternatively, you might try using Recovery Console to replace lz32.dll specifically from disc. (Use the expand command to use the compressed copy on disc)

I found my live copy at c:\windows\system32... copy on disc is likely in the I386 folder.

As Mada suggested, try replacing the lz32.dll file first. If that doesn't work, slaving the HD and saving the files before reloading XP may be your only option.
ccApp is a Norton-related file; I've seen it cause problems in the past. I'd recommend a less resource hungry antivirus like Avira's AntiVir 7PE or AVG 7.5.

Thanks for the responses Mada & hopper,
I went into Recovery Console using an XP CD and used this syntax -
    expand e:\i386\lz32 /f:filespec c:\i386
    Returned an "Access Denied"
    Unsure of what this means.

This is an original install of XP Pro and it always specifies the lz32.dll file.
I'm going to try to download a copy of the file, burn it to CD and try to copy from that tomorrow since the comp has 2 drives.
If not, I'll probably slave it to get the files off. Will let you know how that turns out.
    Thanks.
