Is World of Warcraft worth playing with just a mouse?

They have a promo for free upto level 20. Would it be worth blowing some bandwidth to play with a regular mouse? I'm obviously not a gamer, at least with the current ones and I don't like the shooter type games, strategy and puzzle solving would be good. Thanks.

 

Yes, id say its worth a shot at least. The mouse isn't really a big issue, many people play with way less hardware then you would be using auggie. Give it a shot, ma, wenchie and i all play.

The only time a mouse starts to matter is when you get into end game stuff, sometimes healers like the extra buttons, i play with a mx518, but a two button mouse itsn't a problem or even gonna keep a good player down. Roll a toon on blackhand, so if you do decide to upgrade i can help ya out, wenchie is on khaz modan and has a guild over there.

Oh a capped connection? That sucks. I wonder how much bandwidth a month wow would run me.

 

Ya, that's for $60 FOR 50gb u/d. About $100 would give me unlimited bandwidth but with a lower speed. I'm getting 8Mb/sec ATM. I think folks should pay for their speed/BW even though it would crimp my style. One has regular folk doing e-mail and then you've got those that u/d 500 GB/mth. It's not faiR imo.

 

I pay 60 a month for a 3/mb down with no cap.

 

Well, it's coming down at 250Kb/s ATM. Not much investment there unfortunately. I'll try this with a cup of coffee tomorrow.

I don't play WOW but I do remember reading a while back that it uses an astonishing 1GB per hour!
I could be wrong there but if you're capped Auggie you might want to pick up a bandwidth monitor prog just to keep check.

As for price, I'm currently paying $65 per month for a 7mb uncapped, although I can only receive 3.6mb/s, I am changing soon because I found the same exact package for $40 per month through an ISP called Primus, so I've been told they are very good but don't know if available where you are Auggie.

 

Most online games use very little bandwidth last time I checked, a GB per week would be exceptional in my limited experience.

 

1GB per hour, nope perhaps over a month, than yes. I've stopped playing WoW, for about 2 months now. Though a few guildies want me back. I'm on Rift now, but having thoughts about going back. Ugh, hate the addiction of WoW.

Looking forward to Guild wars 2, and the new star wars game.

In addition, my $100+ mouse doesn't make me better. But, when I played wow, I was a keyboard/mouse user.

Well, that was almost a total disappointment as the only thing that worked was the beginning cutscene which was great! I was anticipating really good things happening with a tingle up the spine!

Alas, reality set in, folk's names were written over each other to the point of being unreadable, people walking through each other, wolves repeatedly sitting on staves which protruded out of their back etc. etc... A waste of 10GB and my time IMHO. I'll study up on this when I'm totally and completely bored.:wave

I have the hardware for a default 'good' rating, so WTF is going on? Need some help here.

What server did you choose auggie?

 

Never chose a server, I just started the game, that's all. Got a few hello's too, mebbe it's the default server for the promo, I have no idea.
