Is xp pro and vista basic neyworking possible?

    I have a desktop with xp pro and a laptop with vista basic. Trying to network the two so we can play LOTRBFME game. Is this possible? The game is only installed on the desktop and I only have one copy of it so there is not a disc to run in the laptop.
