My computer keeps shutting down, three times yesterday and twice today in less than an hour. It gives me a sixty second warning with a message that says something like - System shutting down \WINNT\system32\Isas.exe...

Is this a virus? I tried Ad-Aware SE and it didn't find anything.

    Thanks

In my opinion ur machine is infected with Sasser worm. I wud recommend u to run d Sasser removal tool. And whenever that shutdown message with 60 second shutdown comes..den u go to command promt and type "shutdown -a" dere...without quotes. This will probably stop ur machine from being shut down. Also turn off system restore on ur machine..Go to control panel..system properties...system restore and turn off sys restore. Den download that Sasser removal tool from d net and run dat on ur machine...all d best..happy computing..

My computer won't open all the way! It keeps getting to one point (still opening), then the little box says that it can't find the isas.exe file, and when I have no choice but to select OK, it shuts off and restarts. An endless circle, I have tried going into the setup files in .....DOS (?) but it isn't helping because I don't know what I am doing.....

I have another computer I am borrowing, I could possibly do something from it if it helps, or could I try booting from the web? Of course I don't have the original boot disk as I bought this computer used from a friend.

I was in the middle of starting a web based business, and all things have ground to a halt!
    Please help!

Hello Karen, welcome to Major Geeks.

Please start your own thread, rather than adding to another especially as you are asking a different question.

Before reposting, reboot the pc repeatedly tapping F8. Choose the safe mode option and let us know if the pc then boots. this may take some time to complete.

Also let us know what version of XP you have.
