ISO files cannot open after saving to HDD

Hello Geeks,
I have a problem saving ISO files. When downloading is finished I open the folder and a wordpad icon appears as though the ISO download is saved in wordpad. The ISO file is supposed to be saved in C:/programs with an ISO icon. I successfully downloaded a Linux Ubuntu live CD before and now I want to download the Install version with no luck. I wanted to burn this Linux ISO install CD using a Lite-ON CD burner with nero CD burn software on a HP 6638 desktop with win 98 SE as the OS.

The download is saved to the hard disk C: but with a wordpad icon and the 657 MB of space for the OS is used. The download is on my system, I just can not access the download to install on my HDD or burn to a CD.
I had raised this problem yesterday with some feedback but no help. I do not know how else to explain the problem. Thanks Geeks, bluesteinm

 

Can you open your burning program of choice, and browse to the ISO through its open dialog?

Sorry if that's a stupid question, I'm just not sure I completely understand the problem.

You might also try Daemon Tools, which would let you mount an image as a virtual drive. That is to say, make your file into a simulated DVD-ROM w/ the CD inserted.

 

If it has a WordPad icon for ISO files then it must have the wrong file association.

What is, or used to be, your default ISO program?

Having said that, it shouldn't affect burning it to CD.

 

you could try right clicking it, clicking open with...click winrar (or your unzipping program) and tick the box that says "always open with this program".

(this is for XP).
