    Hello all,

2 days of trying and still no luck. I've got an old system, no cd/dvd burner. But I have an .iso file I'm trying to open. I've run it through Winrar and now I have the original iso along with a bunch of .vob files. None of them open with Windows Media Player.

research has led me to believe that I might need to run the .iso file through "nero". And then it might be converted, by Nero, to a file that Windows Media Player will recognize.

Anyone know if I'm on the right track or not?
and, is there a free or trial version of Nero that is out there? I don't want to buy software for just one file.

Thanks is advance for any feedback!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is new to me, since I have an old system with no burner, I've never had to deal with this type of problem before.

I believe you have to burn the ISO using Nero onto a DVD in order to get it open. Or you could mount it with a virtual drive such as Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools

I somehow got it converted into an .avi. I say somehome cuz I have been downloading so much stuff, I don't know what did it. But now there is a playback issue, I'm getting a YUY2 codec error.

I'm gonna start a new thread about this error and hope someone has a solution.

VLC player will play .VOB files. And probably your new .AVI

I haven't tried it in a while but get the player from videolan.org and google VLC and .vob or .iso

I downloaded the VLC and yes it did play the file, but when zooming the image or trying to go full screen, that's when the problems start. Slow motion video, choppy, stop and go, etc.

I used Gspot and it said I was missing a divx codec which I then installed. It didn't help. I downloaded and remove so much software this weekend I'm thinking about just calling it quits.
I just ran Gspot again and it said I was missing ffdshow. I just downloaded that too (I think, there were a ton of different options to DL).

To show my ignorance..........where should these things (Divx codec, ffdshow, etc.) be saved too. I just unzip the file and let it go wherever. I notice that WMP searches a codec server before opening the file. Maybe they need to be on that server?
WMP is telling me I need the YUY2 codec!:(????

I've tried WMP, DIVX player, Real Player, Nero, VLC, and others. All choppy, pauses, low image resolution. And the very first time I got it to open the image quality was good but the sound didn't sync, that's when I started trying to fix it..............

I downloaded this from Windows update, then downloaded ISO Buster to open it with, But what I need to is install SP3 to my HD. I had a malfunctioning HD so wiped it & reinstalled winXPPro & SP2, then found out microsoft only has limited support for XP & that only for XP using SP3 to use windows update site. I chatted with a microsoft techie who wanted $99+TAX to repair me online. I told home I just needed to be able to access windows updates - when he saw I was leaving feedback he gave me some links & wished me a good day. My question is this: how do install SP3 from the ISO file? Any help much appreciated. My only other option is to copy from a backup 40GB HD installed on same PCthat has SP3 & can access microsoft updates. Thx

It is best to start a new thread for your problem to keep the forum tidy.

That doesn't look like a completed download. The ".crdownload" might indicate a partial downloaded file.

You can try this redistributable package for SP3. You would run it from within XP. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24
