My neighbors have dial-up, and it drops every 30 minutes, so they have to reconnect. I recall reading here before how to set it so this does not happen, but I can't find that thread. Can anyone jog my memory as to the process please? I'm planning on cleaning up their PC this weekend, and wanted to fix this too for them. It's 6-months old so I'm figuring they are running XP - haven't got my hands on it yet - so I'm assuming it is an ISP idle timeout, rather than a Windows one.

    All suggestions appreciated

    Hi Lev

They may have as you say in the properties to the DUN setting disco on idle XXmin set, they could try turning this idle disconnect off.

Open the Control Panel and double click on Internet Options > Click the Connections tab, highlight your dialup connection and click the Settings button > Click the Advanced button in the Dial-up Settings section of the screen > Uncheck Disconnect if idle for XX minutes.

Click OK, and OK again, and OK once more, the new settings should stick next time they open the browser or dialup.
