Hi all, been using ccleaner for a long time with no issue, now when I try to update or even re-install it, I get a message that the ccleaner setup.exe is not a valid win32 app. This never was an issue before and I have changed nothing I'm aware of. Any ideas? I really miss it and can't get it re-installed. Thanx for any help.

    Hi

    What Windows version you using?

Can you install other applications ok?

What you could try is the portable version of CCLeaner as it doesnt need to install to run, what could have happened is that in your TEMP folder there maybe corrupted files so cleaning it out and CCleaner will do this may help, if you still cannto run the protable version of CCleaner then follow the manual instructions below to empty the TEMP folder.

    XP and Vista
Right click your C Drive and choose Properties > click Disk Cleanup > Files from all users > check the Temporary Files option and run cleanup.

    or direct from folder
Click Start > Run and type %TEMP% and hit enter, then delete the contents, may not be able to delete all as some files will be in use, but delete as many as possibe.

Then re-download CCLeaner from here and reinstall

I'm using XP, and it seems that any files of the .exe type I try to load I get the same message "is not a valid win32 application" yet when I try to delete them it says other programs are using the file and won't allow delete. I tried un-installing ccleaner and reloading as new because it would not open the update .exe files, but it won't open the app of this type at all. ???? thank you for your help.

also, the logo appears as a square w/ a blue top, like a window instead of the ccleaner set-up logo, this is true for other .exe apps I've tried to down load. Stick

From what I've been reading when you get the message "not a valid win32 application", it seems to indicate that you have malware on your computer.

    Start here http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407
read and follow the steps for your version of windows.

After you have the logs OR if you are unable to run any of the cleanup because you get the same error, start a new thread here
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35
outlining your first error and what you did to try and cleanup.
One of the malware fighting gurus will be along to help you in that section of the forum.
