    Hello Major Geekers...

Im using a wifi system which is perfectly fine at 20mb/0.6 with 20ms upload and 3ms download average, whenever this system is not on.

When this system is on the ms goes up to anywhere between 150/60 and 1500/1500 randomly, making the internet constantly slower than it should be and sometimes unusable for this machine and all the others in the house.

We have tried a few things (virus scanner/new user etc) all to no avail, the only thing I can think of is one of the background processes on this machine is causing this to happen.

Here is a screeny of the processes running, maybe somone knows something we don't. Cheers!

    Greetings, craj.

Couple of things you might try:

    1. Start the machine in Safe Mode with Networking, see if speeds increase. If so, then it would seem that some 3rd-party programs are causing the lag. If not, then you may have a Windows or hardware problem.

    2. If it appears that some 3rd-party software is the cause, then run msconfig and disable all startups. Then, selectively enable until you find any obvious culprits.
