Issues with Ccleaner!

    So for the first time ever Ccleaner is not working properly.

    Nearly every time i run the registry cleaner it stalls at 54% (probbably 9 out of 10 times it stalls)

    And if i try to scan twice it stalls every time.


    This is happening with 1 computer and one laptop BUT not with 2 other laptops and 2 other computers.


    The laptop is the Patriot 3040 G320s 512MB ram, 1.2GHZ (unknown) XP_HOME SP3


    and the computer is a hand built 1.7Ghz AMD sempron, with 704 RAM, and an MSI MB XP_PRO_SP3




    This first happened about a week ago and has gotten worse, i have cleaned out reinstalled a fw times and still no joy?

    EDIT: Note: this is just in the "registry" cleaning part, the normal Ccleaner part works fine.

    Hi Q

    Not come across that issue yet with CCleaner, but just checking that the version used is the lastest one? (I know you'll have the lastest but just double checking)

    Its a pity that CCleaner doesnt show you what part of the registry its scanning so you could have checked is it failing at the same point.

    I would try the things below.

    1. Disable any security apps and try again,
    2. Try running it in Safe Mode
    3. Run this registry scanner and see if it cleans up ok, as CCleaner maybe failing on a corrupt key.

    Well i had the latest on the desktop (which is 2.26.1050 )

    But i had the previous version on the laptop, just updated it.


    I installed/ran that Tweaknow on both and *fingers crossed* Ccleaner has just ran twice without stalling, so, jobs a good'n methinks! :)

    That has got to be one of the first ever issues i have seen or had with Ccleaner (i thought it was infallable!)

    Hey Q

    Yeah me too on CCleaner, yes its had a few hiccups with some revisions but all in all its pretty bomb proof on the whole, just possibly a corrupt key that it didnt like, very unusual though for it to have happened on a few PCs.

    So hope you dont get any more stalls.

    It happening on 2 and only 2 computers has got me bit curious tbh?


    Im thinking (as with most problems) the user (aka ME) has caused this, and im trying to find the unique similarities between the two set-ups.

    Apart from one Having Kaspersky + Comodo (desktop) and the other Avira + Comodo (laptop) and one being Home and the other Pro, they are set exactly the same, except a few seemingly irrelevant prog's and app's.
