    Hello,

I run Windows Vista x86 with Internet Explorer 9.
I encounter some issues with IE9:
    - Favorite and setting buttons are unoperational
    - Page name is absent from the top of window
    - Right click for managing toolbars is unoperational

I have tried to uninstall IE but:
    - it is not found in the programs list
    - it is not found in windows updates list
    - the command FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*9.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:mad:fname /norestart" wouldn't work, or at least gives me the hereunder message, but IE9 is still here.

[EDIT]: I cannot restore to a previous point neither as I flushed the restore points when I cleaned the laptop.

My laptop was malwared and I just finished to clean it.

    Any idea to solve this?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Try the fixit
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/ie_performance_and_safety/en-us

    or
How to Uninstall Internet Explorer 9 in Windows Vista
Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs to uninstall Internet Explorer 9. Depending upon the version present before you installed IE9, you get IE8 or IE7. This means that if you had IE8 and you upgraded to IE9, you get back IE8 after removing IE9. When you open the Add/Remove programs in Control Panel, you will be presented with Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 in the dialog. To remove IE9, select it and click Uninstall. You can reinstall IE9 the same way you upgraded before. You can download the IE9 installer and run the installer to get back IE9.

    Hello,

None of these solutions worked. I can't uninstall it, and I can't over-install it.
I also tried to install a IE9 special MSN in order to uninstall it after, but it didn't work neither.
Additionally, windows automatic updates always proposes me the ie9 update (19,5Mo) but I always get the 9C48 error code.

    Thanks

The last suggestion I have is to restore the computer to a date before all the IE 9 problems occurred. If you don't have a restore point that far back then your options are really limited and of the "last resort" type.

    Have you run sfc /scannow?

That is right, I don't have a restore point old enough before the problem occured.

I have ran this SFC scan, the result is attached. It seems that there are many failures.

BUT, the last line says All files and registry keys listed in this transaction have been successfully repaired.
Did you fire it up? What happened?

He didn't repair the corrupted files because I've just scanned again with sfc, and there are still the same failures.
    See attached.
    Any idea?
