Issues With Scandisk ... Need Options

I'm on an older laptop, the attached monitor is toast and as such this is plugged into the dsub as an external monitor. I'm aware of a few bad sector areas and file system errors on the hdd this uses. The issue is that scandisk absolutely never fixes issues from within windows. The external monitor depends on the windows driver being active.

Assuming basic knowledge of how scandisk behaves during a reboot, it should just automatically do its crap in lieu of no keys being pressed. It is not, however correcting the issues. I cannot see what is going on prior to the windows driver loading and as such this is completely inadequate to do what needs to be done.

So, I'm looking for options.

 

Please tell us the following:

What is the exact Operating System, and Service Pack installed if any, and is it 32 bit or 64bit
What is the make and full model number of the laptop system
Do you really mean Check Disk when you say 'scandisk'

 

It's running windows 8.1 ... as to service pack I can't say. This is a compaq cq60 ... yeah that

 

Only XP, Vista and 7 have service packs. 8 and 10 do not.
Is it 32 or 64bit?
Do you mean CHECK DISK?
There are lots of models of that laptop - look on the bottom and tell us the exact model version.

 

I haven't used anything in 32 bit since xp on any system, so 64. I did say 'yeah that' answering in tandem to the order things were asked..suggesting that chkdsk was in fact being referenced. This is a 615dx

 

I think heat is playing a role in some of the hdd issues, but there's really not much to be done for it .. the hdd temp is sitting at 55c
