It is now safe to turn off your computer ?

I have just installed XP pro on my spare computer. Everything seems to be OK except upon shutdown, when instead of the usual closing down sequence and the computer turning itself off, I get the XP logo back again with a message that says "it is now safe to turn your computer off "........I then have to manually push the on/off switch to turn it off.
Just spent 2 hours (ish) trying to resolve this........without any success.
    Anyone got any suggestions ?

Depends on the computer.. is it a bit older computer? Did it turn off itself with other OS's...

Some computers did not/do not support this feature.

    Thanks for your help...........

Turned out to be the Advanced Power Management tab which wasn't checked.
It is now and everything is fine.
