It's Finished!!!!!!

oh man, I finished my boombox just now. Going to get some decent pics tomorrow, until then you'll have to live with the cameraphone.
Anyway, it's got a 12V 7Ah battery, charging and voltage monitoring circuit, a 30W tape deck unit that had an aux in, 2 6 1/2 in and 2 horn tweeters.

 

but, you painted it black, it will get all hot, and stop working when out in the sun................wobbles

 

Yeah, you need to cover it in tinfoil!

didn't paint it, it's vinyl covered, the speaker box came like that, I simply put the guts of a car power pack in there, extended all the wires so I could mount the charge jack, battery test button and power/charge leds in the back where the spring terminals were. The speakers are powered by an el cheapo $25 tape deck that had an aux in, all mounted in the box. It's quite heavy

 

when I made mine, for my motocycle, it had a 200 watt amp, am/fm with a cass player, and two 6 1/2 inch speakers. It was more then I wanted to carry around. I used rubber shock cords, to keep it on the bike.............wobbles

For biking I used a walkman & earbuds that tucked inside the helmet nicely. Sounded great & saved me the hernia.

Wow man...That's looking pretty snazzy.

What's going to be your primary use for it? (aside from just "listening to music"...like, car audio? bookshelf system?)

 

home system, portable. Have a car kit in the car, so I don't need it there. I can charge it from my car as it's 12V, so it may get a permanent charging jack so I always have it.

I think that I built mine, back before, there was such a thing as a walkman. and here in California, like you drive and drink......you can't drive and use earphone's............wobbles

 

i was wndering how much did this project cost you total in the end looks a little pricey
