You can easily make any program you like run when you login by putting it in the "Start menu->programs->startup" folder. Just copy a shortcut to the program you want to launch and it will run it. In fact it will run anything you place in their when you login.

I'm not sure I understand, do you want it in the quick launch area or the area where like the stuff for sound is and stuff near the clock? The quicklaunch is near the start button the right of it.

If you want it in the system tray (where the clock is) that is a program specific settings. Not a windows setting. For some programs it won't even be possible.

In order to what you want you have to have some way of launching the program normally that would make it appear in the system tray.

If you want more detailed help you'd have to say which program you are attempting to do this with, as it's entirely dependant upon the app and not windows.

    oh
well i'm not smart enough for that
I was trying to put that WINPOPUP program
into the spot where my volume and my clock is(i.e. system tray)
so it would always be on like messenger
my kids spend a lot of time in there rooms and i was looking for somthing simple
that ME already had so I could stay in touch with them a little better I spend all my time on my pc and they see me much either I thought it would help, but I didn't want to add a new program.
BTW we have 6 pc's all linked thru a generic hub and wireless combo connections
Buuuuut I don't think I should fool with what it would take to do that.

Guess I'm destined to look for something else.

You could always just use net send to send messages from one computer to another. Then to avoid getting annoying netsend messages configure your network to only allow net send messages from within the private lan.
