the big island. its something called 'elephant grass'. hubby has borrowed a weed cutter with a metal blade but its still over powering. we dont want to poison it, but we may end up with no choice. that is the front 'garden' this is the back, lol

yes....to be more precise in the middle of an acre of land untouched by human hand for 40+ years. in my garden i have bananas, (12 different verities), avocado (both verities) guava, 5 very large mango trees, papaya, and macadamia nuts. along with ground taro and tapioca to name but a few. trouble is we cant get to most of it. in addition half the plants are endangered species and we don't know which half lol. we have our own little ecosystem going on here with lizards, wild pigs, ferral chickens and cats, tree rats and every kind of bird including a macaw, an owl, and a hawk. its beautiful, but we dont know how to begin to clear it.

 

Oh, don't clear it, leave it! It looks like a bit of heaven. I'm a birdwatcher, and I'm just a teensy weensy bit jealous!!
