    I desperately need assistance.

-Virus several months ago Microsoft Windows XP 2008
    -208 dollars to fix up
-Now my user account is KarenM instead of Karen
-I tunes says I can't burn the music I purchased prior to the problem
-fed up downloaded MyFairTunes from this site
-wonderful thread told me how to handle downloading the NET FRAMEWORK
    -Did that

All starts to run wonderfully, I select a file to put the converted items in....
    and

ITUNES 8 NOT SUPPORTED BY PATCH

pops up on my screen...... accidentally almost typed scream which is what I want to do now.

Can anyone tell me how to use the fairtunes with i tunes 8 or am I committed to re-installing the old itunes assuming that I have a restore point from then.....

Thanks to all out there that got me this far!!! :cry

    Thank you so much Mark....
i will give it a go and see if I can get that to work.
This DRM for a legit need is very frustrating......not to mention the hundred odd dollars of music that no longer will burn or update to my ipod....

    Mark,

Thank you very much for your advice. It was a pain to do but nonetheless it did work and now my music does burn. Things are back up to date in terms of software. Your quick and kind response was much appreciated on this end.

    Kudo's to you!!!! Sincerely Karen

hi there - i tried this and get the following message:
The file "iTunesLibrary.itl" cannot be ready because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.

    can you help?

What I did was create a folder on my desktop and took everything out of the itunes folder. (including the libraries) I think I called the fold "hold music" or something like that.

Then I deleted and re-installed the itunes old software.

That seemed to work. Then I simply put the library back when I re-installed the new software. It read the library just fine. No guarantees but that is what worked for me anyways....

    Best of luck
