iTunes 9 + Vista = issues

    Okay, so, here is the deal. I am working on a computer, trying to get iTunes working for a friend. She is running OEM 32 bit Vista on an Inspiron, and needs to get to her music. She ran 9, it upgraded her library, but slowed her computer down to a truly ridonkulous crawl. Downgraded to 8, and it will not accept the new library... A fix for either would be appreciated.
