Itunes are using all my cpu

hi
i have a bit a problem,my laptop is using to much cpu,espessialy when i was trying to transfer some of my music liberary to a freinds ipod,then it wont syncronize,or it will,but thats all and then it stops to respond completly.my OS is windows 7 home premium 64bit and 4gb ram.And right now 89% on both cores,what shall i do?
I have read on the net that a guy who was running norton had the same issue,i am a mcafee man(total protection 2012),can that be a problem and how can i solve it?
