    Hi, i'm new. :wave
    need help with itunes, problem:

    iPod nano 3G
In iTunes, I'm trying to put individual cover artwork for songs in my library that are singles. This only works if the track is NOT the first track on the album. For some reason if the first track happens to be a single and I put that single's artwork on there then that will become the entire album's cover in my library and will also become the artwork for the rest of the songs on the album that aren't singles with separate artwork. Can someone help me out? If the first track on the album is a single, how do I upload that single's

    Album
    -Track 1 (single)
    -Track 2 (single)
    -Track 3
    -Track 4

The album and tracks 3 and 4 should have the same cover while tracks 1 and 2 would have the covers created for those songs because they're singles. But the problem is that when I add the artwork for Track 1, which is different than what the album cover is, iTunes uses that artwork for the album cover and every other song on there that doesn't have its own artwork. Track 2, however, would keep its cover. I'm unsure as to why this happens but I'm trying to figure out how to bypass it. I want to be able to do it without having to change the order of the songs.

    Hope this is not confusing.
    From help (a.k.a. MissedMe) :)

With enough experience you will learn that iTunes is a horrible piece of garbage.

Get yourserlf another piece of software for managing the meta data of your mp3's. I personally useTag & Rename . Wouldnt dream of going without it!

    Hi MissedMe

An idea you can try. You can load individual pictures for individual tracks through the artwork tab on the Get info (right click on track name). Whatever the picture is for the first track on an Album is what will show on the library listings but when your actually playing the track the picture you saved with the track is what will show in the now playing window.

If you want to show the individual pictures for tracks within the cover flow option of your library, then they only way I can think to do that is to give each track a unique Album name and that would then mean instead of one album with 10 tracks for one picture you might have 2 or 3 albums with 2 or 3 or 5 track listings but different pictures on each - depends on how precise you want to be with the picture listings within that option.

Perhaps either of these options you can live with.

    Hi again,

Have been researching this and learnt that you can store two pics in the Artwork option. If you store picture A (single cover) first on left hand side, then picture B on the right hand side(downloaded album cover from itunes). However this will not change what is displayed in the cover flow option of itunes, it will only put the Pic A in the Now Playing box in the bottom left corner.

I had an extensive look around itunes forums and couldn't find any specific answers to your questions. For now I think you might have to accept it as a limitation of the software.

I don't place too much stock in having the pics for the albums as I once did because when I had to recently reinstall my O.S. I lost all the artwork, playlists and last played details, upon reinstalling itunes, some of the artwork was no longer available from itunes so you have to hunt it down from the web and after the 1,000th item you have to find well it gets old quick.

Maybe it's a good question for the software developers over there.:-D

    Hi

I remember trying to help someone with this in the past and found no answer for it in iTunes, it just chooses one main album artwork for tracks that are in an album, so if you wanted to tag some of the tracks from an album as the singles with associated artwork then this action will either change the who albums artwork to that image or disassociate the track with the album, so you have a split album in itunes library as paramonks suggested.
