Have you removed the previous version of itunes and then cleared the registry of itunes before installing this version?
A good piece of software to use is Your Uninstaller, there's a trial version around somewhere not sure if it's on here I think it might be, but that wipes the registry as well as uninstalling it, better than the add/remove programs utility :0

Try the following fix exactly as it is outlined:

Start Menu > Run. Type in "regedit" (this takes you to the registry Editor)
Find the heading HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Click on it.
Find the heading SOFTWARE inside it. CLick on it.
Find the heading Classes. Click on it
    Find the heading .cdda. Click
    Find the heading OpenWithList. click

Right click on "OpenWithList" folder. Select Permissions. Select Add Button. Select the advanced button. Select "Find Now" button.
The "Find Now" button should list all of the users, Select the "everyone" user. Hit OK. This closes this dialog. Hit OK in the dialog box now on top. This closes this dialog.

On the Permissions for openwithList box now on top select "allow" checkbox in the "full control" row & hit OK.

Do the exact same thing for the OpenWithProgids folder. Close regedit and try the install again.

    Find the heading .cdda. Click

when i click there is no "openlistwith"
    theres only
    "(Default)"
    "Content Type"

When making changes to the registry, I suggest you either set a System Restore point (on XP or ME), or backup the registry using the File, Export command.

You will need to create the two keys (folders) inside of it. Right click on the .cdda folder and create a new key named OpenWithList. Right click on the .cdda folder again and create the key named OpenWithProgids. Now you should see the .cdda folder with the two folders indented but underneath it. There are values in the .cdda folder and the other two folders, but iTunes may want to put those values in during the install.

Once you have these folders created, make sure you follow the instructions outlined earlier in this discussion to set the permissions to "full."

Make sure you have enough disk space for the installation.

I can't find anything else. Hopefully you will get some more ideas.
