Without delving too much into Apple Sites about iTunes I decided i'd ask on here first about a little issue i'm having with iTunes, Here goes...

My two friends bought an Ipod on the same day and with both of them not knowing a whole lot about PC's they asked me to transfer across their CD's for them.. How can i have their 2 Versions of Itunes on one PC? it seems to me Apple makes this a little tricky, i install one of their iTunes on my PC, lets call him "Mr A" and when i'm done with one i have to uninstall that version of iTunes and then install the other persons - "Mr B", this is all well and good until i have to update Mr A's ipod again!!. Any Help on this would be appricated, i dont have an ipod and while iTunes is easy to use and all this is driving me a bit batty.

    Thanks

Ok heres an easy solution, go into iTunes and click File, next click New playlist. Just call it something like "Mr. A's music" or something. and just do that as many times as you need and just select the songs for that particular playlist and drag and drop.:)

I am trying to move my itunes library from my laptop to my desktop.
When I just copy the files it doesn't work.

    How do I do this?

reznor: the problem you are running into, is due to itunes making you put the number on the back of the ipod to sync. that specific ipod whith that version of itunes. If you plug in a different ipod, itunes will say that the ipod you plugged in is different and blah blah blah, anyway it asks if you would like to setup this ipod to be used with this itunes and if you click yes, it completely formats your ipod and you have to start all over.

Do as mentioned before and make up the playlists for both ipods. once you've done this, plug in the first ipod and copy the music over to it. Once done plug in the second ipod and click yes when it asks if you want to use this ipod with itunes. When it is done formating copy the music for this one over to the ipod. Keep in mind that if your friends ever want you to do this for them again, they will have to readd all their music everytime they want to add even just one song. It sucks, but it's the only way you can do both ipods on one computer that i can think of.

    Hope this helps.

Wouldn't it be better to have a seperate profile for each user ? So each user logs on to windows with a seperate ID then you will only need one installation of Itunes but it will let you have 2 seperate librarys even if the music files are the same.

would it let you do that? i didn't think it would since both accounts on the computer would recognize the same install. wouldn't they? maybe i'm confused.

Yes but they would both have seperate librarys since itunes by default puts the library in my documents/my music/

No problem, I don't have an Ipod but I imagine this is the simpliest solution
