    Hi,

Can anybody help me to remove itunes from my PC (Windows 10)? I had itunes but, for some reason it stopped working with error messages. I uninstalled it and when I went to reinstall it, I couldn't. I found a post somewhere (not on here) which suggested installing a couple of other Apple things (I can't for the lfe of me remember what they were now) but itunes just freezes now.

So I've tried to uninstall in the hope that I can start from scratch again. I went to apps - itunes - uninstall but got this error message "C:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe - Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them"

Grateful for any help in uninstalling and re-installing :)

OK, firstly I tried downloading a fresh installer. This wouldn't install - encountered errors.
Downloaded Revo and uninstalled itunes and anything else Apple.
    Tried the install again:
First screen was the Welcome to itunes window (12.6.2.20 x64)
I left all options ticked and the destination folder as C:\Program files\iTunes
Then clicked on the "Install" button

Next screen was the User Account Control asking if I wanted this app to make changes, clicked Yes.

After not very long, the next window popped up = iTunes Installer Completed - the installer encountered errors before itunes could be configured. Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified. At which point I had to click FINISH.

I suggest you try installing iTunes again but this time with any security software on your system turned off/disabled to see if it now installs. If that doesn't work I suggest you post on a Apple iTunes user forum.

We got there! I've been using AVG Free for a while. I went to disable this as you suggested but it said AVG needed to be updated. I tried to update but I got the same error message I was getting with itunes. So, using Revo, I uninstalled AVG and then went to reinstall the latest version of itunes - and it worked!!! Now to reactivate my Kaspersky licence :D

Thanks very much for your help :)

This is not the first time I have heard of AVG causing issues.
