itunes will not sync with ipod

    Recently I had to reinstall windows xp on my pc. I also had to reload all software. I reinstalled itunes and quick time and hooked up my ipod. Everything is fine until I try to sync.
    I did a diagnostic test and it said that sync failed, but will not give a reason why..
    Any suggestions??
