I've been & *am* looking for software 4 music notation.

Long ago I picked up an ax (hmm, two tools 2 begin with), well U know, a guitar. Learned to play by ear. Even learned lead that way for, believe it or not, it was in a day when there were "record players," (so I'm like as old as Santa Claus.) And *those* things then even had a speeds of 33 1/3 for albums & 16 1/x (I 4get). But the point is U could turn it down from 33 to 16 and in effect cut your hertz in half and with that U would go down an octave. Thus U learned the bass sounding lead at 1/2 speed, moved it up an octave, doubled the speed, & U had Eric Clapton's gut wrenching lead on "Hide Away" right there in your own little slow hands.

Well, that's neither hear (sic) nor there, but what I'm getting at is that I learned by ear. 'Bout a century...no, a millennium L8r I decide to learn to read music to broaden my universe a bit.

Now, at last, the heart of my question...I've been poking everywhere to get some software that actually lets U write down notation. Something that transposed it--a simple enough task for a 'puter it seems to me (it's all mathematics) would be even better. So, does anyone have a lead on this search, an answer to my query? The gods, muses in particular, would look most favorably upon thee, as would I. I'd be much in thy debt, oh yes my brothers & sisters.
