I've had it with AIM!

I want to get rid of it. It wants to update my version (basically to add more crap on to my computer than it already has) and I keep getting popups for it that won't stop. :madProblem is, I've never used anything else.

What do you all use? Are there ones that you can chat with people who have AIM? Like Yahoo's...is that any good?
