I've lost my network system

I've had to reformat and re program my desktop comp and I know I should remember how to reconnect the network system but I'm having problems.
I have a netcomm modem/router that also provides wireless connecting within my home. The modem/router is connected direct to my comp by ethernet cable and my wife uses the wireless system in another part of our home.
I've tried what I think is every method to connect the modem/router to my wife's comp by wireless but I cannot do it. I've searched everywhere to get a simple list of directions to make this happen but no luck. I'm pinning my hopes on your readers.
    Thanks
    Jeff

The OS and Service Pack would be good to know to offer specific advice.

Did you reinstall the drivers for the wireless network controller after the format and reinstall?

Are there any yellow ! marks in the Device Manager?

I'm ashamed! There are four instances of yellow ! marks, stated as unknown, and I didn't reload the wireless drivers. I am terribly ashamed!
I'll do this immediately and come back.
    Thanks a million!

There are several ways to get the correct drivers.

If it's a standard production computer like Dell, HP, Compaq, Gateway etc. you can get the drivers from the manufacturer based on model number and sometimes there is an additional identifier such as the Service Tag used by Dell.

If the machine is a "clone" type machine, being custom built. Look at the Main Board for identification of the Mfg. and the model number. look at the wifi controller to identify it.

There are programs like Everest that can help identify the hardware. The MG link to a current version of Everest seems to be missing. Perhaps some has another solution.

You can also run software that will assist in installing the drivers but I personally don't like that approach. They often install a lot of unwanted junk and spyware.
