Hi, I purchased an allegedly brand new HP DV27 (Vista Home Premium) Laptop in early 2008 that was, with great difficulty, replaced in less than one (1) week with the exact same model and, then, in January 2009 with a DV4; all of which have had the very same and very extensive following problems that have totally prevented me from personalizing it as well as, for the most part, even, utilizing it. Basically, they have been and the DV4 currently still is, literally, controlled by irremovable alleged free trail soft-wares that:

    (a) consistently re-installs itself in instances wherein they, seemingly, permit for uninstalls,

    (b) are associated with effective and hidden Administrative User profiles that are not revealed under "Users" and are only visible via a list of approximately thirty (30) profiles that are revealed but which I have no access to, whatsoever, when attempting to give myself rights to a particular folder or object; with user names, such as, "System", "Owner", my own created User name/Administrator name with a down arrow through it (for me) and a duplicate of it without a down arrow for someone else utilizing these free trial soft-wares, as well as another set with an (s) after Administrator, etc.,

    (c) consistently flood my internet file with clutter, even, when and while I have not had an internet connection and/or was not permitted access to it,

    (d) takeover, alter and rename and programs that I install via CD including my home-based printer, protection and MS Office program, which, then, show up under a separate "Programs" file that I am able to locate only via a manual search of the "C" Drive but not via Windows explorer and are identified under properties; when accessible to me, as being part of CCC Center, Realtek, Lightscribe and/or others of the alleged free trial softwares, etc., and

    (e) constantly make unwanted downloads to my laptop, alter, hides and deny me access and control over my files and services, and has repeatedly changed my passwords and denied me access to, even, my own laptop as well as effectively designating me as a Standard User on it, although I show up as the only user under "Users".

Moreover, extensively more currently running processes are displayed when I click on "show processes for all users" and I have also received prompt upon log-off advising me that I was logging off other users.

Throughout this time, HP has provided me with no assistance, whatsoever, and has refused to remove the alleged free trial softwares that I have been unable to remove and has, even, alleged them to be a part of the original MicroSoft Vista Home Premium Package, which MicroSoft has advised me is not the case. HP has required me to have spent countless hours running and rerunning its installation CD, which is a minimum of approximately six (6) hours each time and simply re-installs the Vista Home Premium Operating System along with the very same soft-wares; followed by their having had me repeatedly send my laptop in for repair only for it to have returned to me in the very same state.

I am not really technically skilled but faced with these most frustrated and tremendous problems, no control over my own laptop and no assistance, whatsoever, from the manufacturer, I have searched my laptops when permitted and found the following:

    1. The HP Advisor acts as a virus just as does the alleged free-trial soft-wares and reinserts itself over and over again as well as hides in other parts of the laptop,

    2. A cssrs process is always running and is a controlling component,

    4. I have no access to nor control over the User profiles, although I am in some instances able to see them in connection to certain folders and objects, because the ones listed in connection with them are instantaneously reinserted upon deletion while my options for deleted any of the approximately thirty (30) or so that are revealed when I try to add myself are completely grayed out,

    5. My MMC and other important files are not located in the System folders, which are empty, while hundreds of other files are instantaneously created following any attempts that I have made to delete them,

    6. All of my Program files are duplicated under 86x,

    7. Realtek, CCC and the included Norton security have all following different instances of my having reinstalled my computer, been displayed under "Properties" as owning virtually all of my files and objects,

    8. A manual search of my C Drive has revealed countless repetitions of the same files as well as commands for them to reinstall upon deletion, and

    9. My my computer information has displayed my having been connected to well over fifty (50) other computers as well as changes to have been made to my BIOS and my Operating System having been changed and designated to have been an XP, instead of Vista Home Premium on, both, of the prior DV27. As for this one (DV4) I am identifying many of the very same problems but have resigned to never, again, waste my time contacting HP anymore and have not, even, utilized it fifteen (15) days since it came back to me from HP repair in January; with the very same problems, and am presently trying to get it repaired elsewhere.

Any help and/or guidance that you can give me in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Revo Unistaller removes all the crapware loaded on new computers.

run it at the default setting - moderate cleaning.
If when removing Norton it says you have to reboot do not reboot. Click later or cancel. The uninstaller will continue looking for registry entries. Before you blindly put checks/ticks in the registry entries, take the time to look through. Only put checks/ticks at the items bolded; never select all because you will be removing parts of the registry that need to remain.
