.jar opens with winrar

i have windows 8, winrar 4.20, and java 7

i had to reboot my laptop but before i use to have winrar and java they both worked fine. i used to use a osbot.jar fine. After the reboot i redownloaded everything, and re-installed them.

but now when i try to open the osbot.jar file it opens with winrar, osbot.jar has a winrar icon. i already opened up winrar.exe and went to opinion and removed jar. i also tried to change the open file with. to javaw.exe, and when i try to open the file a cmd pops open quick and close within 1sec.

can anyone help me?

 

You need to reset the default file association for .jar. Anywhere on the Start screen type 'Default' and click on Default Programs. You can change it there.

i want to be able to open osbot.jar with java.

 

Remove the file association as mentioned and when you double click the jar, choose java.

The thing is, if it isn't an executable jar (there are different types of jars), then you have to invoke it from a command prompt.
