Jasc Paint Shop pop Up

    Hi,
I keep getting a Pop Up on starting my PC 'Jasc Paint Shop Pro Studio, Dell edition' which is irritatingly difficult to close and I would dearly love to kill it off once and for all.
My PC crashes about 3 times a week and is very slow when trying to open certain applications - especially Outlook (although I presumed that it was due to ZA doing its checking). The OS is XP SP3. I have Zone Alarm, System Mechanic (with which I am not very impressed) and Reg Cure. The C drive (150 G) is half full.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thank you,

There are a couple of places this could be called up. The first place to look is in the startup folder. Go to your Documents and Settings folder and navigate down to Start Menu\Programs\Startup and see what is called up there. If you see the offending programm just delete it from the folder.

If there is nothing there you will have to delve into the registry:eek
Start>Run>then type REGEDIT and hit return. Navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run In the right hand pane you will see all the programs called up when you start Windows, If you see the Jasc program there then select it. Right Click and select delete.

You may also find it under the HKLU branch at the same level.

    Yargwel,
Thank you very much for your time. I found JASC under START\RUN\REGEDIT\HKLM\SOFTWARE - should I simply delete the lot from there - sorry but I am not confident when tinkering in this domain - worried that I will cause more damage. I don't use any photo enhancing package so can easily live without it.
    Thanks again.

    Thanks Petaluma,
I downloaded the CC yesterday and dumped a lot of baggage. I didn't notice the B/U option but backed up anyway. The Jasc pop up persists unfortunately.

Did you use the registry cleaner portion (some miss the tab) that is where it asks to b/u reg before it makes the changes/fixes the issues.
OOps did not see Yargwel alredy helped you
    that should do it --

If it is actually under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run then you can delete it as I said in my first post. But just the key in the right hand pane.

If you found it under HKCU\Software - then No.

I have checked my registry and can't find Jasc under HKLM\Software (Except under \Classes\.psp) and I do use Jasc software (PSP7).

    Yargwel, Petaluma,
    Thanks for your input.
I did select the BU option in CC so all safe hopefully.

I have Jasc under HKLM\Software and NOT under the string you listed. It is also under HKCU\Software. Will deleting it from the HKLM\Software sort it out?
I also have .JascProject under HKCU\Software\Classes
    Thanks again,

If it is a Dell edition it is installed w/ the OS and that may account for the multiple reg entries.
So it may be just as easy as running PC Decrapifier (gotta love a name like that!) available here at MG's
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download5223.html

It does list a version of paint shop pro near the bottom -- so it may see your installation of PSP and get rid of it completely.

Of course if you are really OK with not having any Jasc software you could always uninstall it (control Panel>Add Remove Programs) to see if that works for you.

That's great, thanks - will try that.
