Java 64 Bit On Windows 7

Hi I am running Window 7 Home SP1 (sticking with it ) 64 bit.
I seem to have benn having problems with Java lately. Go to verify and it says not enabled yet it is or was. Had got latest 64 bit up to date etc.

But still same Java message popping up whilst running Waterfox and other programs going unresponding - message is re C/rogramFiles/Java/ire1.8.0-77\bin\javaws.exe (sysexe)
Today went to safe mode command and ran sfc/scannow - it repaired some files.
Still getting unresponding so uninstalled Java altogether.

Now if I search find only left behind bits of files.

And haven't had a non-response problem with Waterfox or other programs whilst working for around 2 hours.

So do I need Java these days as totally got a memory block on it. What I need it for and why its not showing up in Waterfox or Chrome as add on when it once did I'm sure but maybe again me

 

The browsers use java script which is not the same as Java or J(ava) R(untime) E(nvironment).

JRE is very seldom used by web sites (there's only one site that I've run across). JRE presented a security risk and people were advised to uninstall it.

I don't have it on my computers and haven't run across any problems.

 

Thank you both. Got confused with so many things seemingly happening lately. So I will not install it again - as you say, wait until needed and told etc.
And thanks for taking confusion out of 2. Java and JRE.
