Hey, I was recently updating my computer and i found out my Java was out-dated. I went to the java sun website and tried to DL the newest version, however, a messege pops up saying "You already have this version of JRE installed, please uninstall the current program through your add/remove program in the control panel" Well, I tried this and when I try to uninstall it an error messege pops up saying "Error 1723 there is a problem with this windows installer package. A DLL file could not be run..."

So, In short, im in like a loop hole thing.. It says i have the latest when i try to install it,but when i test to see what version of Java i have it says That i don't even have it.

Another wierd thing is, I don't even have a Java icon in my control panel.....

    I need some help.

I'm sort of green at this stuff but I spent almost 8 hours playing with this same thing. I tried uninstalling several times but there must be something still there that Java recognizes. Anyway, I then used CCleaner (it's free) to get rid of the crap (thats what the C stands for) then tried a reinstall, which then worked. Hope this might help and save a few hours
