Java Nightmare.

Java Problems started when my java couldn't read .jar files so i figured i'd reinstall, so i uninstalled the old one ( removed from program files not from the control panel add/remove ) and that gave me alot of problems, it would not uninstall from control panel - therefore wouldn't install a new one. So i dug through my registry and took out every tag with java in it, that didn't work and the only way i got that to work was with CCleaner - does wonders apparently, also with that i renamed my JRE that i couldn't uninstall to JEBUS and found it in regedit pretty easily and dealt with it that way.

i thought my problems would be over after that, but JRE still isn't installing. it's very aggravating.
I've tried : restarts, windows update, registry cleaning, cache cleaning, installing to different directories, offline installations, online installations,

how it crashes : directly in the middle of installation, after choosing folders and declining a yahoo taskbar - quits and says " failed to complete " or something along those lines.

pretty much everything they suggested.

what do YOU have to suggest?

currently : installing jdk to see if i can get java as a combo package without flaws.

 

It's still listed in Add/remove? Did you run the Java utility.

This should do it. Says i'ts fine for JRE does not mention JDK!

used it, claims it removed something - tried to install offline/online and default/chosen destinations on the hard drive - nice try though >.<

Good to know Lets us know if the latest JRE installs and runs as required.
