Java problem

I can't seem to get help in the programming forum, so I thought I'd try here instead.

I'm running WinXP, with Service Pack 2, and for whatever reason, I can't get Java to download. I've tried to install it right from the webpage, and download it manually, yet neither work. I'm really in need of Java, and it's becoming quite irritating not being able to get it. I've spent hours trying to figure it all out, and I can't seem to. It starts to download and then it just stops, and won't continue.

Anyone know how the hell I can get Java installed? Help would be much appreciate.

a possible http://www.java.com/en/download/help/ad_block.jsp if you have ad blocking software installed.

also with SP2 when going to install JAVA automatically from the site just below the address line will popup a line which is asking you to click here to install.

also why I remember.. if you have a download manager program eg. Flashget etc you can right click in the Manual download page the download button for the Windows (Offline Installation) and pick your download manager program and it should start that way so if the download stops you can resume.

Have tested with Flashget and it works.

I had a similar problem when I tried. Someone on this board suggested that I go to the last downloadable line that reads mirror(You have about 4 or 5 downloadable sites to choose from). It worked. Good Luck
