Java Virus

Hey guys,

This virus is killing me. Somehow my Mcafee got deleted, so in safe mode i did a trend-mirco virus scan, the prog is called housecall. it came up with 3 files infected with the Java Bytever.a virus. I deleted them and then upon re-booting my computer was fine for a while, and by while i mean like an hour or so. My computer started to sloooooooooooow down all the time, the CPU light was constantly on which is what happened last time. I went on mcafee's online scan and it found the same type of virus in the same place. If someone could please help me out that would be great, im up at school and i need this thing to start working, I will give more info if its needed

The Java Bytever.a virus is fixable using updates from microsoft to patch the java virtual machines. In some cases, microsoft will not let you update MS JVM . In which case, your best bet is to install suns version of java. Here are two references for you if you are interested.

Suns version of Java will do you fine once you fix the problem.

Please go to the thread Just Playin sent you to and don't be in a hurry...read, read, read and go step by step and do everything that applies to you.

Your virus probably came back because you didn't delete it while your computer was in safe mode and/or with system restore turned off or for maybe another reason. It's explained well in that thread.

Some may not agree but if I were you, I wouldn't be in any hurry to put McAfee back on my system. I believe it was the cause of many of my problems and on my new computer it was the first thing I wiped out. Then I put on Avast Home Edition (free antivirus protection, almost daily automatic updates download here :

I did all the things mentioned in the article however AND i got avast anti-virus, which found the same virus and deleted it, AND i removed java vm. Still my computer is running slow. I created a sys restore point about a week ago, should i just roll it back?
