Java vs Sun java

Ok, I know I'm one of those poor needy relations, but I have another issue . I've been reading stuff about how Java is now obsolete, and should be replaced with Sun java. Is this true? If so how do I get rid of Java ? I've already looked for ' uninstall 'for Java, can't find one , and there is a whole truck load of files that go with Java, so what if anything do I need to do ? And remember, I'm computer challenged, and I can only do 'easy' !!

Sun is the company who makes java.

Are you talking about the msjvm?

 

LOL, Adrenalyn, I don't know what I mean. I just saw a couple of things (don't remember where) about Java being obsolete and not supported any more, and I don't like being 'obsolete' or 'not supported' !! so I don't really know what I'm saying.

This is what I think I know:

MS Java VM will no longer be supported by MS after 2007. Until then MS can provide updates only (mostly security). It is no longer offered for download from MS unless you are updating an older version (unless you know where to look). Therefore, if you have no Java you will need to get Sun Java. Supposedly over time...everyone will be using Sun Java (unless the courts reverse their latest).

I believe you can have both on your machine but there should be no reason to. If I were you I would install Sun Java as you will most likely need to do it sooner or later.

Google will tell you how to uninstall Ms Java.
